The Southeast District is gearing up for the trip to Ecuador. The mission team is going to Atucucho, Ecuador, to build and teach in vacation Bible schools. The trip is from June 27th to July 5th. This trip will build upon the work of previous mission teams that went to Ecuador from local churches in our area.

District Superintendent, Richard Stryker, hopes that it will strengthen the ties between the churches in the district and the mission in Ecuador. He noted that a number of churches are actively supporting the new church in Atucucho through the joint venture with SIFAT. Stryker notes that persons on the team are finding the time and money to go on the mission trip to help people in need. We praise God for their generosity and the generosity of sponsors. This helps us as a church and district to strike a balance between local and global ministry.

Four churches represented as part of the team are Alexander City First, Duncan Memorial and Fairfax in the Southeast District as well as Calera  in the South Central District. Dr. Bill Etheridge, Alexander City First pastor is the team leader. The 31 person team will include Dr. Stryker, and Rev. Mike Densmore, DS Assistant and incoming Duncan Memorial UMC pastor.

Dr. Etheridge notes that supplies are needed for a productive trip. He is very appreciative of the $813.00 received from the offering at the District Conference. He invites church members and Sunday School classes to participate in this ministry by purchasing or donating towards supplies.

A member or church can purchase some of the supplies listed or contribute by sending a check to the Southeast District (P. O. Box 537, Alexander City, AL 35011) and designating the money for supplies.
